Fly & Flea History

The first fly trap was invented in 1850, but humans have battled flies since ancient times. Egyptians used honey-coated boards, while medieval Europeans hung bundles of herbs to repel flies. The connection between flies and disease wasn't understood until the 1870s.

Fleas caused one of history's greatest pandemics—the Black Death. The first flea powder was made from pyrethrum flowers in the 1800s. Modern flea control began in the 1960s with the development of growth regulators that prevent flea larvae from developing into adults.

Fascinating fact: A single flea can jump 150 times its own body length—equivalent to a human jumping 900 feet! Flies can beat their wings 1,000 times per second. Our treatments target both the rapid reproduction cycles and the incredible mobility of these pests.
